In October we surprised our lovely volunteer, Susan, with a Room to Reward treat. Room to Reward are an organisation who partner with charities and hotels to donate unsold hotel rooms to charities to gift to their hard working volunteers. Each year the charity can nominate one volunteer to be chosen for the treat of a 2 night hotel stay.

Susan has been volunteering with us since 2020, supporting us with our data management. She’s very dedicated and passionate, we’re very lucky to have her on our team!

Here’s what Susan wrote about her recent hotel stay:

“Thank you so much, RFK!

I was very lucky to be nominated by Raising Futures Kenya to enjoy a free hotel break, thanks to the wonderful organisation Room to Reward, which allows charities to nominate volunteers in recognition of their work. I’ve been helping out with RFK since 2020, working mainly on the database to keep donation data up to date and accurate. I’m very happy to volunteer for such a worthwhile cause, and it’s very heartwarming to see the real difference RFK makes by providing vocational training to young people in Kenya through its Seed of Hope programme.

I’ve just come back from a fabulous two-night break, with my husband, at the Park House Hotel, in West Sussex. As we checked in, we noticed the Room to Reward plaque proudly displayed in the lobby. It’s a very smart country house hotel, set in stunning grounds and offering the chance to walk in all directions on the South Downs Way. The hotel generously donated a room and breakfast for two nights, and even upgraded us to a superior room. After two days of exhilarating walking on the Downs – we were extremely lucky to have bright sunny days, albeit with freezing temperatures – we were able to make full use of the excellent spa facilities, including the gym and the indoor pool. Later it was wonderful to relax in the lounge in front of a roaring fire.

Thank you so much to Raising Futures Kenya, to Room to Reward, and to the Park House Hotel, for together providing such a treat.”

We’d also like to extend our sincere thanks to Room to Reward for running this fantastic scheme so we can thank our wonderful volunteers, and of course to Susan, for all she does for RFK – we’re very grateful!
