Earlier this year, our partner-NGO in Kenya was delighted to welcome Nadine Frohlich of Amanaska Advisory to visit Seed of Hope and experience for herself the magic of a community-led project.

Amanaska provides philanthropic advisory services to The Fresh Leaf Charitable Foundation, which has generously invested into the Seed of Hope training programme in multiple ways.

During her self-funded trip to Kenya, Nadine visited the Nairobi centre and the Kariti centre, coinciding her visit to see both the official Kariti kitchen launch and Kariti’s Class of 2025 graduation ceremony.

Following her visit, Nadine kindly shared her reflections with the team over email. Her candid and passionate perspective highlights just how powerful projects led by local experts are. When the people on the ground are designing the solutions, transformation happens in a truly effective and holistic way.

Nadine’s reflections also demonstrate clearly why The Fresh Leaf Charitable Foundation continues to support young people through our Seed of Hope programme so generously.

Pictured below cutting the cake at the graduation ceremony (left to right) are Nadine, Executive Director Mary Mwangi, Programme Manager Florence Olwenge, and a Seed of Hope graduate. Standing to the right in her beautiful gold dress is Seed of Hope teacher, Margaret.

On her last day, Nadine asked Executive Director Mary Mwangi what motivates her to do this community-led work:

“the sincere and, if I may say, maternal way she spoke about the young people from very challenging backgrounds and how she gets to watch their transformation as they progress through the supportive structured environment, her reply was truly inspiring and humbling in equal measure. It was of course great to see both the infrastructure projects completed and up and running, but there’s no question that it’s the people at Seed of Hope that make what you do so special.”

Since 2022, Fresh Leaf Foundation has donated a total of £62,397 in support of our Seed of Hope programme. Their funding has enabled many things, including:

  • the construction of the Enterprise & Computer Room in Nairobi (2023)
  • the building of a commercial-grade kitchen for Catering & Hospitality students in Kariti (2025)

Their generosity will improve the learning experience of generations of students to come and ensure more young people in Kenya can transition into employment and business ownership and out of poverty and exploitation.

Their huge investment has made, and continues to make, an incredible impact on the lives of young people in Kenya. We could not be more grateful for their support and for Nadine’s heartfelt words.
